1、in case 作短语连词，能引导状语从句，就其词义和语法职能来分，可引导两种从句。
其一：in case/just in case引导目的状语从句作“以免，以备，以防”等解。如：
He takes a torch in case it gets dark before he returns.
他带了手电筒，以备天黑以后回家之用。
Dad brought a notebook along to the beach, in case he was seized by sudden inspiration.
爸爸带了一个笔记本去海滩，如果突然有了灵感可以记录下来。
其二：in case 接条件状语从句，意为“如果、万一”。如：
In case we fail，we won't lose heart.
万一我们失败，我们决不会失去信心。
In case I forget, please remind me of my promise.
假如我忘记了，请提醒一下我的诺言。
2、in case of 是短语介词，后接名词、动名词等，作“以免，以防”。
In case of emergency, call the police.
如果发生紧急事件，打给警察。
You can go to the hospital in case of illness.
如果生病了，你可以去医院。
The wall was built along the river in case of floods.
沿河筑起防护墙，以防洪水。
In case of rain I have an umbrella.
我带了把雨伞以防下雨。
3、in the case of 意思是“至于；在…情况下”，在提及另一件事情时可以使用。
In the case of a smart student, getting an A is very easy.
对聪明学生而言，要拿到 A 很简单。
